In recent years, the progressive integration of service robotics in households has attracted the scientific community’s interest in robot-human interactions. Recent studies have opened up new research lines into emotional expression and gesture for humanoid robots.
A tool that facilitates the integration of gestual and verbal communication would be a major step forward in design for natural behaviors. In an effort to improve the social interface in robotics, this work presents a methodology for gestural annotation in open texts, grouping together word segmentation, POS tagging and the use of word embeddings in order to apply semantic criteria to gestural assignment.
This methodology has been developed into an algorithm encapsulated in a web application, accessible from this server.
.To conclude this work, this algorithm has been applied to a children’s story, available in the link, with the aim of carrying out a brief demo with a Nao robot.
